What is paint correction?

Paint correction is the process of removing minor scratches and imperfections found in the vehicles clear coat. Using an electric polisher, a range of buffing pads, and a special cutting compound, the detailer will cut into the clear coat of a vehicle's paint till the scratches are leveled or removed. Thus, causing the overall look of your vehicle to improve. Paint correction does not involve any work on the vehicles paint only on the clear coat.

Under the light there is noticeable scratching and heavy marks. Over time any untreated vehicle can be similar. The difference after the Paint correction has been completed has improved the vehicles paint significantly.

Paint Correction Stages

Paint correction is split into stages based on the vehicles paint work. Every vehicle is unique, some vehicles may have more swirl marks compared to other vehicles without swirls but may have more scratches.

Stage 1

Stage 1 paint correction is just that. Polishing the paint work in one stage or one step. This is best suited for paint work in good condition. Little scratching and minor marring.

Stage 2 paint correction is suited to vehicles that have moderate to medium swirl marks and light scratches. Stage 2 involves a twostep process; step 1 s generally a cutting (abrasive) polish to remove imperfections. Followed by step 2 involving a finishing polish and pad to refine the paint work and complete the process.

Stage 3

Stage 3 paint correction is suited to vehicles that have heavy scratching, swirl marks and other paint defects. It involves a three-step process with the first step being a heavy cutting compound with a heavy cutting pad to remove deep swirl marks and scratching. Step two is a cutting polish and polish pad to remove further swirl marks followed by the final step three involving a finishing polish and pad to refine the paint work. The paint is then sealed by a paint sealant, wax coat or ceramic coating to protect the paint work.
